The Story of Mighty Lions

Our Story

Back in 2019, long before we had a name or a logo, Coach Jabulani — a former J.League player from Africa — started gathering a small group of kids near Yoyogi Park.

There were no fancy pitches, uniforms, or equipment, just a ball and a burning passion for helping kids fall in love with football. With one pass and one smile at a time, something beautiful began to grow.

Week by week, rain or shine, more families joined. What began with a handful of children turned into a vibrant community: a place where every child felt seen, heard, and proud to be themselves.

In 2025, that grassroots movement officially became Mighty Lions FC.

With Mighty Lions FC, we wanted to build a space where individuality is celebrated, confidence is nurtured, and cultures come together. A club where kids learn to express themselves — not just in football, but in life.

At Mighty Lions, every player is encouraged to speak up, support one another, and play with heart.

That’s what we mean when we say:

Play Loud, Roar Proud.

About Us

What our logo means.

The MIGHTY LIONS FC logo is inspired by the Malawi National Colors, as well as the backdrop of the Shibuya Skyline. The Lion is a strong and dignified animal that embodies the value of individual expression and pride.

What sets us  apart.

1. Everyone plays. Everyone grows

We don’t sideline kids for not being the best. Every player gets real game time, with a focus on long-term development, not short-term trophies.

2. Expression over perfection

We teach football as a form of self-expression. Kids are encouraged to try, speak, lead, fail, and try again without fear of being wrong or different.

3. Built on diversity

Our players come from all over the world. Even if they don’t speak the same language, they learn to play, laugh, and grow together. Football becomes their common language.
